Scooter Ad Hoc Task Force Application

The application for the Ad Hoc Scooter Task Force is now live (apply here) and will remain open until 11:59 PM, February 10th. On December 14, 2019, the City Council approved a second phase of the Dockless Mobility (Scooter) Pilot Program. With that approval, the Council adopted a resolution to create an Ad Hoc Task Force that will provide guidance to City Council about shared mobility.

Alexandria Transit Vision Plan

After almost two years of planning, outreach and discussion, The Alexandria Transit Vision Plan bus network for 2030 and the short term 2022 “major growth” network were both adopted by the Alexandria Transit Company (DASH) Board of Directors at their December 11, 2019 meeting. The approved routes will include major increases in transit service in the Eisenhower East/Carlyle area.

City Council Okays E-Scooters for 2020

By a unanimous vote on December 14th, the Alexandria City Council approved Phase II of its electronic scooters pilot program through the end of 2020.  The City joins neighboring jurisdictions with Scooter Programs including Arlington, Washington, DC, Fairfax County and Falls Church City.

Ride with Waze Carpool!

After much consideration and review, Carlyle has decided to drop Zimride as rideshare option. We gave the platform our all and tried hard to market and promote the service within our community. Enrollment was very low and we felt it best to go in a different direction, to better serve our residents and workers. The last day for the Carlyle Zimride discount is October 31st, 2019.

2019 PARK(ing) Day Carlyle 'Parklets'

The Carlyle Council created our first ever Park(ing) Day ‘Parklet’ in front of Sweet Fire Donna’s. We had over 250 patrons visit our parklet and check out our reclaimed parking spaces. Park(ing) Day is an annual event that takes place the third Friday in September, to help spread awareness about other options of transportation besides single occupancy vehicles. A Culinary Tour of Old Town - Rock the Block 2019

Update on AlexRenew's Tunnel System

In response to a 2017 Virginia Law, AlexRenew is implementing a program called RiverRenew to reduce the discharge of millions of gallons of sewage mixed with rainwater into local waterways each year. The RiverRenew program includes the construction of a tunnel system to capture the sewage mixed with rainwater at the locations where it currently overflows (called outfalls).
