Eisenhower Avenue Transportation Study
The City of Alexandria was chosen this summer by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to evaluate needs and opportunities for improving safety, mobility, and accessibility along the Eisenhower Avenue corridor. The study is expected to be about a year and to be wrapped up by Summer 2024 and will be broken into three-phases; Existing Conditions and Preliminary Ideas, Future Conditions and Refined Recommendations, and Final Recommendations. During each phase, there will be opportunities for community involvement.
Here’s how to participate during the first phase:
Complete the brief online feedback form by September 7
Visit the project webpage to learn more about the project.
The study will also be sure to include the previous work done through other city plans, such as Eisenhower East and Eisenhower West Small Area Plans. The result will be a long-term plan that we will use to leverage for future State and/or Federal grant funds to support implementation of any proposed recommendations. Although there may be opportunities in the interim, in limited cases, to possibly fund a recommendation with local funds.
