Pile Driving at Pendleton Street

Some machines are so excited for a cleaner Potomac they can get a little loud - that includes Wayne the Crawler Crane’s impact hammer, who will help RiverRenew crews install piles at the Pendleton Street Site which began in February 2023.

This critical work will help keep RiverRenew on schedule and provide a sturdy foundation to support the future diversion facility and promenade connecting the community to a healthier Potomac River.

Pile driving uses an impact hammer, which forces steel piles to depths of 100 feet into the soil. Unavoidably, this process emits a repeated hammering sound and may be disruptive to those sensitive to noise.

This work will last through May 2023 and occur between the hours of 9AM and 6PM ET, Monday through Friday. Visit the project webpage for more information.
