The owners of the popular Grand Cru in Ballston are set to open a similar place in the old Stella’s location across Duke Street from Whole Foods Market. The new space, Sancerre, will have in indoor seating, event space and seating for about 100 outside in its courtyard. It will also offer a large selection of affordable wines and a reasonable corkage fee.
The menu is expected to be more upscale than Grand Cru and will include appetizers and entrees, as well as a menu options for private dining and banquets. Their restaurant application will be considered by Planning Commission in February. With City approval, the owners, Troy and Lena Thorpe anticipate opening their new restaurant in late summer.
