Saturday Cinema Debuts in Carlyle
Free Monthly Film Festival Series — The Carlyle Community Council, the City of Alexandria and the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership are pleased to announce the arrival of Saturday Cinema at Carlyle – an outdoor film festival kicking off in July. The free festival will take place the first Saturday of every month from July – October transforming John Carlyle Square Park in the Carlyle District of Alexandria into an outdoor movie theatre. The festival will launch on July 1st with Top Gun as we head into 4th of July celebrations. August 5th brings us the 1980 comedy classic Caddyshack, followed by romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally on September 2nd, over Labor Day weekend. The series will close out on October 7th with Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds to celebrate Halloween.
Grab a date, the family or a group of friends, bring the lawn chairs and a picnic and enjoy some great flicks under the stars. Alexandria based small business Nice Cream, who recently opened their new store on King Street, will be on site on July 1 serving up their handcrafted ice cream.

This new movie series is part of a variety programming initiatives planned for Carlyle as part of the City’s Carlyle Vitality Initiative whose mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Carlyle neighborhood for residents, employees and visitors and maintaining the success of one of the City’s most important commercial districts.
