Carlyle’s Transportation Management Plan (TMP) offers a variety of commuting benefits and incentives for Carlyle employees and residents, including Zimride Ridesharing (an online ride-matching service connecting riders and passengers), free shuttle service to King Street Metro Station and the Virginia Railway Express at Union Station, and discounted SmarTrip cards and Capital Bikeshare memberships. CCC’s TMP also maintains and oversees security at the Duke Street Pedestrian Tunnel, which connects the neighborhood to the King Street Metro Station, and hosts its popular Bike to Work Day pit stop in May. Since 1998, Commuter Connections, a regional network of transportation organizations coordinated by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), has awarded employers and employer service providers in the Washington area for promoting innovative and sustainable commute alternatives.
The Carlyle Community Council received the annual Employer Services Organization Achievement Award from Commuter Connections. Presented to CCC President Phil Weber at a ceremony on June 22nd, the award recognizes organizations or jurisdictions that have built programs that make it easier for employers to introduce or expand commuting benefits in the workplace.
