Carlyle District Fast Fridays & Slowdown Sundays Starts June 23 Area Celebrates Summer With Free Outdoor Fitness Classes  

June 16, 2017 – (Alexandria, VA) – The Carlyle Community Council, the City of Alexandria and the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership launches a free outdoor fitness series called Fast Friday’s and Slowdown Sunday’s to encourage individuals to get their sweat on this summer and try a new workout with notable Alexandria fitness studios. Classes are open to all and will take place in John Carlyle Square Park.

Kicking off weekly on Friday’s and Sunday’s starting on Friday, June 23rd through Sunday, August 27th, Fast Friday’s will focus on a quick 30-40 minute full body lunch break workout. Slowdown Sunday’s are geared towards mind and body, tranquil and restorative workouts to help start your Sunday morning in a peaceful state. The fitness series will feature guest instructors from area studios such as Xtend Barre, Pure Barre, Mind the Mat, Pilates Pro Works, and USPTO Fitness Center and will include a range of classes from yoga, tai chi, Zumba, barre, and kickboxing. This fitness series is part of a variety programming initiatives planned for Carlyle as part of the City’s Carlyle Vitality Initiative whose mission is to enhance the quality of life in the Carlyle neighborhood for residents, employees and visitors and maintaining the success of one of the City’s most important commercial districts.
